No idea if Katsukura does take-out but it is definitely better to eat on the spot. If the queue is too long, perhaps could try the nearby smaller branch at basement 1 of Kyoto Tower. https://www.kyoto-tower-sando.jp/en/shop/index/105
Sorry to say but it won't be :(
Great food. Reasonable price. Had a difficult time finding the place in the 11th floor of The CUBE but worth it. 😋
Delicious but high price
Can't fault this place. Get there and enjoy the experience...... Ticks all my boxes: Taste/Price/Service/Cleanliness/Location
Fantastic Pork Katsu with free flow Miso Soup, Barley rice, and vegetables salad. Had 4 bowls of Miso soup it was so good and full of ingredients. Costs about USD 27 per person for the largest and most premium Pork Katsu - but don’t bother, just buy the cheapest and get free flow Miso Soup. That was the highlight of my whole meal.
Delicious food in a wonderful atmosphere. A little tricky to find at first, but the restaurant is on the 11th floor of The Cube side of Kyoto Station. Pork tonkatsu and vegetable rolls were delicious. You get to ground your sesame fresh and mix your own sauce for dipping, which is a fun interactive component of the experience. Fairly reasonable prices for the setting, lunch for two was around ¥3000.
Great food with great view! The tonkatsu is really crunchy with the perfect rice, and the miso with vegetables is not salty types of soup. Really yammy!
Finding this restaurant within JR Kyoto Station was somewhat challenging. I recommend you find a less busy time to attempt a walk in, else be ready for queues. Ordered the Loin cutlet zen set. Simple presentation, pork tonkatsu was moist and delicious. Rice and miso soup is stock standard. Quality vs. price, it's quite expensive. Recommended, but nothing to die for.
Best tonkatsu I've ever had. Fun, get to grind up your own seeds. Little hard to find. Located at the top of The Cube in the food court area.
Delicious pork tonkatsu tenderloin, with free refills of barley rice and cabbage salad. Delicious! Kids meal are very generous and good value for the kids to try prawn & pork tenderloin as well. The Kyoto premium pork tonkatsu is the one to go for. Plenty of seating and friendly efficient service. Will definitely come back!
The katsudon was so good!! Pork was tender and the sauce with egg had a great flavor. My friend ordered the set with the pork cutlet and the large shrimp. She said they were both delicious.
The most expensive Kyoto pork cut was flavourful but its fats were hard and the meat was not tender. Go for the slightly less expensive Joshin cut for better marbling. For about the same price you can get better Kagoshima black pork katsu else where. The cabbage was also bitter. Food quality definitely doesn’t match the price, though service is decent.
The restaurant is located on 11th floor of Kyoto station. It’s quite challenging to find it, but worth it. There are quite a few other options if you don’t fancy Katsu pork. I went for the ‘Joshu Pork Loin Cutlet Zen Set‘. The smallest size cost around 2000 Yen; the portion was enough for me. You could choose from original or spicy sauce to mix with the sesame seeds (you ground yourself). For me, the original is better. The pork was delicious, tender and melt in your mouth. The set came with cabbage and miso soup. There was some Yuzu vinaigrette which is provided for the cabbage which is really good. The beer they serve is Suntory Malts which is one of the better beers. Overall, I was impressed by the service and food and would highly recommend it.
The Katsu is very good but the sauce is ok. The barley rice and soup though, can’t get enough of it. Still thinking about it
Extremely yummy pork and prawn katsu. Pork katsu has a great selection of locally source pork tenderloin. Must try !!
Google reviews never disappoint. We had dinner here and loved every bite! There was a fairly long queue but we didn't have to wait long to get in. Food is divine and staff are superb friendly. Highly recommend!
Excellent Kyoto loin pork tonkatsu and very good service.
Delicious pork cutlet rice with friendly staff
Friendly staff who spoke enough English to get by. The tonkatsu was tender and the breading crispy. Interesting miso soup with lots of vegetables, tofu, and other things we couldn’t identify but were very tasty. Grinding your own sesame seeds was fun and added a extra bit of flavor to the sauces. It’s a little hard to find in the station, on the eleventh floor on the south side. Worth the extra effort!
Good Tonkatsu! Had the limited Kyoto pork and family had the Waygu (not worth the price). The wait wasn't too bad and the rice, soup and cabbage were really tasty and can be refilled for seconds. The pork Imo was a bit overcooked compared to other Tonkatsu I've had in the past which is why it's getting four instead of five stars. Overall a great experience with good service. They have English menus and the wait staff speaks English as well
Service was quick and staff attentive. Food was of a good quality and not expensive.
Had the same type of meal in Tokyo for half the price and double the taste. The staff was friendly but definitely think this place is overrated and very expensive. The cabbage was bitter and the special pork was chewy.
One of the best dishes I've ever had. Friendly and fast service. Do not miss this.
I read a lot of review about this place. And I'm very appreciate about meal and service when I came last month. Tonkatsu is greatest than other that I ever ate. Even this place was not comfortable for a big guy, but I recommend this place if you like or want to taste a great Tonkatsu.
Had their tenderloin w crab croquette. Loved it. Good food, great service, decent price. ðŸ‘🻠#howtonotbefat
The best pork cutlet I've ever eaten ðŸ˜ðŸ·
on our first night in kyoto on a return trip wifey and I came here at 9pm since the line was way too long earlier. the pork cutlet is so delicious and not oily, tenderloin is naturally more tender, loin is chewier. miso soup is godly and rice is good as well, both of them can be refilled. shredded cabbage is also very fresh. two people set menu price 3840yen. last order at 9.30pm, definitely avoid the crowds during 6-7.30pm
First meal after arriving at Kyoto station for my family. Ordered both steak and pork sirloin set meals. Fantastic flavor with excellent service. Two thrums up!
Delicious tonkatsu, has English menus and value for money kids meal. Would come again.
Crispy crumb without the oil! Tried the pork and shrimp combo which was amazing, so light and crispy. Comes with cabbage, rice, miso soup and tea. Make your own dipping sauce at the table as well. Prices start around 2000 yen and English menu available.
Reaaally nice Tonkatsu, flavor and texture are awesome, and the spices souce goes specially good with the pork. Very good price, I would said even cheap for the good quality of food, also they offer free refills of rice, miso soup, cabbage salad and tea. Simply amazing 🙌ðŸ»
OMG. I love Katsukura so much. I wish I could have them in Vancouver. Their menu is pretty simple but the way they make tonkatsu is just perfect. Also, their sauce, dressing and even the pickles are pretty good. FYI, Katsukura don't serve curry with tonkatsu.
A delightful experience. Generous serving and great selection of pork
My husband and I visited Kyoto in May. We spent the entire day from around 9am, walking all over the city, and by the evening we were tired and hungry. We went to this amazing katsu restaurant near our hotel, and left with full, satisfied bellies. Extremely happy with this meal!
Very challenging to find this restaurant in the station. I was going around many times on the station until I decided to ask the receptionist of the shopping centre. She explained how to get there and we had to take the elevator and pass in the other tower. The food was okay, not super exceptional but I enjoyed.
We had lunch there today and the service was just amazing! The staff were polite and friendly, they will refill you cold tea and salad without needing to ask. Aside from the service, the food was so good. They asked us to grind the sesame seeds at the start and mix with different sauces, which made me feel the cultural experience of eating tonkatsu in Japan! Would definitely come back here.
Both the tonkatsu and ebi katsu were delicious. The cabbage, miso soup and rice were refillable. Enjoyed the food thoroughly.
we had wanted to skip this as it’s a fried food but we are pleasantly surprised that it ain’t oily at all and tasted fantastic. Really delicious!
I had the premium pork loin, and I would recommend everyone who loves pork to order this. This perfectly fried tonkatsu will remind you why you love meat so much. The meat was tender and fresh, and you wouldn't feel the greasiness of the food as we usually would with fried items. In any case, rice and miso soup are free-flow, so eat/drink to your hearts' content
I ate chicken katsu here... so tender with good sauce too. Enjoy it with the best miso soup you will ever taste.
Very kind staff, they had us have a wonderful dinner even if it was half an hour before closing time; besides, it's not expensive. Worth going
The queue was long but moved fairly quickly. There’s not that much choice, everyone basically receives the same meal except the meat is different. Unlimited refills of everything but the meat. The meat was really good though albeit a little pricey. (The spicy sauce is not spicy)
The katsu is crispy and tasty. The sesame seeds add flavour. Barley rice was fragrant. the Katsudon was perfect. Egg was runny and tasty. Excellent
The thickest and softest pork chop even made severed with unlimited authentic homemade miso soup, 🚠and fresh cabbage! The best meal we had in japan! Long queue, better go earlier!
Pork Katsu was beautifully executed here. But it’s pretty pricey, which may put some people off. You get unlimited rice though. I would recommend those who love Pork Katsu, but for those who are just coming to try, go somewhere cheaper.
